Lunch Break

park-small

A brief hug
they seek a bench
unwrap sandwiches
cheese and pickle for him
crayfish and lettuce for her.

A canopy of leaves
like Japanese fan dancers
teases the wind.

Written as part of London Open Garden Squares in conjunction with the National Trust and The Poetry School.  I will be poet in residence 13th and 14th June. I will be at Postman’s Park

This is one of several poems I’ve written, however I will be encouraging members of the public to write poetry on the day and with their permission will be publishing some of them here in two weeks time!
